Geneva Lynn

Geneva attended Texas Unified School District. After growing up while in Texas, Geneva gave birth to 4 children; Juanita (Merced), Anna Lee (deceased), Dorothy (Fresno) and Abraham (Modesto). Geneva was lovingly referred to as “Mother”.

In 1944, Mother relocated to Main City, CA where she continued as a homemaker for 60 years. After settling in Marin City, Mother had 5 more children; Barbara (Oakland), Mary (Oakland), Nadine (Philadelphia), Leona (Philadelphia) and Leon (Pittsburgh, CA).

Mother so enjoyed raising her 8 children, who to this day love each other and all get along well.

Geneva gave her life to Christ at an early age and was very active in Abyssinian Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, CA under the leadership of Pastor Kevin P. Barnes.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Nim Rod and Willie Lou Valentine; daughter, Anna Lee; 7 brothers; 3 sisters and husband, Leroy Lynn.

Mother leaves to cherish her memories her 8 children; sister, Hortense Finley (Marin City); brothers, Nim Rod Valentine (Marin City), John L. Valentine (Houston, TX) and Willie Joe Valentine (Marin City); and a host of loving grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

A wake will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00am with funeral services to begin at 12:00pm. Interment will follow services at Merced District Cemetery.
