Charles Williams (Chuck) was born in Berkeley, California on November 2, 1946. He passed away at his home in Merced on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at the age of 70 where he had been residing for over 30 years. Preceded in death by his daughters, Angela Marie Williams and Lisa Marie Williams; his parents Jimmie Lou and Reba Pauline Williams. Chuck leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Marilena Williams and loving sister and nephew, Penny Rebecca Newman and Mike Newman.
Chuck joined the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served in Vietnam and in the later years was in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was a true patriot and loved his country. He worked for PG&E for 38 years and retired in 2006 as an electric supervisor. Chuck started collecting stamps since he was 14 years old, and became an avid philatelist over the years. He would spend hours and hours working on his stamps. Chuck and Marilena had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling all over the world in the earlier years, and Chuck enjoyed every moment. It was mostly short trips and casinos in the later years.
Chuck was truly a handyman. He could repair and build anything he wanted to do.
He was the rock of the family during good and bad times. He will always be remembered for his lifelong dedication to his family and friends. Chuck will be missed by all those whose lives he has touched.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street Merced, California. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Yosemite Church located at 2230 E. Yosemite Avenue, Merced with interment to follow at Merced District Cemetery located at 1300 B Street Merced, California 95341. There will be a social gathering following services at Stratford Evans Reception Hall located at 1490 B Street Merced, California 95341.
