Carolyn Marie Jones

Carolyn Marie Jones, Age 69 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 28, 2017, she was born in Inglewood, California to John Henry Hastings and Marjorie Lucille (Schubert) Hastings. She grew up in numerous locations in California, with a brother, as her father was promoted up the ranks of CDF (California Division of Forestry). Carolyn was a stay at home mother when her children were young, worked for Robertson Factories for five years until they closed the Merced Plant. She stayed at home while her children were in High School and Junior College becoming the Swim Mother in both and Worthy Guardian for Livingston Jobs Daughters for several years. She returned to college while her children were in college and worked as a certified preschool teacher for 20 years. She also supported her husband in his numerous activities including non-profit fund raisers such as the hospital foundation, CASA, Kiwanis, etc. She was always willing to help a friend. Carolyn loved the Lord and was active in church and Atwater Soroptimist. She loved her friends and most everyone was a friend. Her smile, kindness and love were contagious and improved everyone’s day. Carolyn was preceded in death by parents and in-laws. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 49 years M. Stephen Jones, daughter Cindy Kirts (Brad) of Columbus, IN, Brian Jones (Sarah) of Brentwood, CA. Grand Children Kirstin Kirts, Sarah Brock, Matthew Kirts of Columbus, IN, Brinly Jones and Shaely Jones of Brentwood, CA. Great Grand Children Phoenix, Arianna and Nolan. Carolyn’s Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Yosemite Church, 2230 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced, CA at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
