Carla Marie Freel

Carla Marie Freel was born in Calexico, California on July 6th, 1953 to Gerold and Dorothy Lewis. She passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord at her home on March 16th, 2025 in Merced, California.

Carla was married to John Edward Freel. They married on June 13, 1992 and enjoyed 32 wonderful years together. Carla and John loved to golf, travel, and spend time with family, friends, and neighbors. Most of all they loved to be together as they looked forward to their next great adventure.

Carla was the mother of 3 sons that adored her, Joshua, Jeremiah, and Noah Kepner. They are respectively married to Daisi, Lori and Laura Kepner. Carla was an amazing Nana to 10 grandchildren, whose energy she was always able to match. She was loving, resilient, and joyously full of humor.

Her siblings, Danny Lewis, Scott Lewis, and Andrea Clements treasured her as their sister and will also miss her greatly.

Carla was a teacher in Merced for 28 years at Hoover Middle School and at Sheehy Elementary School. She helped hundreds of young people learn how to behave themselves and for that we can all be grateful.

A Memorial Service will be held for Carla at 10am, Saturday March 29th at United Methodist Church of Merced, located at 899 Yosemite Parkway in Merced.
