Beverly Carolyn Thomas, beloved wife and mother of five, passed away peacefully at her home in Merced, CA on October 19, 2020. Her legacy is carried on by her loving husband of 43 years, Albert Thomas, her children: Karli Cash, Eric Thomas, Robert Thomas, Deborah Thomas, and Andrew Thomas, as well as her six beautiful grandchildren. Beverly was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Caroll Broadfoot, Jr. and Lillie Broadfoot of Vallejo, CA, and sister of Bernie and Timothy Broadfoot.
Beverly was born to Caroll and Lillie Broadfoot on April 18, 1954 in Cheyenne, WY. She was a military brat and spent her early years living at military bases all around the world. She attended high school in Atwater, CA, attended junior college at Merced Community College and eventually graduated with her bachelor’s degree at San Jose State in 1980. While attending San Jose State she met the love of her life, Al Thomas. They married on April 2, 1977. After college, Beverly worked in human resources at AMD in San Jose. Once Beverly became a mother in Foresthill, CA; she immediately made the decision to become a homemaker so that she could homeschool all five of her children. Together the family moved from Foresthill, CA to Ballwin, MO and then eventually to Hopewell, PA. While in Hopewell, she worked as a school bus driver. She treated her bus kids as if they were her own. She retired after 9 years of driving. Beverly and her husband Al retired to Merced, CA to be closer to her parents in 2019.
Beverly always bloomed wherever she was planted. She was known for her beautiful singing in church, her impressive gardens, her passion for Jesus, and an overflowing of love for all those around her. A lover of people and a stranger to no one, Beverly made new friends everywhere she went and she never left any person before praying with them (and then praying for them again when she got home). Her smile and bubbly personality lit up every room she entered.
