Anthony Charles Taylor

Anthony (Tony) Charles Taylor was born on December 27, 1961 in Goldsboro, N.C. and passed away on August 22, 2012 in Merced, CA at the age of 50.

Due to Tony’s father being in the Air Force he relocated to many different places such as France, Germany, Illinois, Texas and Marin County.

Tony enjoyed playing sports in school. He ran on the track team and was on the baseball team. Later in life he coaches his son’s baseball team.

Family was very important to Tony, both his natural and professional. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, and having BBQ's with friends and loved ones.

One thing that Tony was very proud of was his son joining the United States Navy.

Tony worked for the Merced County Sheriff’s Department for 29 years which became a big part of his family. In July of 2011 he retired as a Correctional Sergeant.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Douglas Taylor and Charlotte Viola Shuler.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Dolores (Dee) Christine Taylor; children, David and Zachary Taylor, Christopher Ortega, Daniel King, Michael McGuire, and Kassandra Kellogg; grandchildren, Seth, Daniel, Kamiron, Danica, Micah, Izaiah, and Jason; sister, Donna (Dennis) Wetherington; sister-in-law, Mona Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Ralph Rodriguez; nephew, David (Annie) Wetherington; nieces, Kim (Tommy) Dick, Amber (Demitrius) Davidson, Mikayla, Kristina, and Aliah (Armondo) Rodriguez; and his Sheriff family.

A visitation will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA 95340 on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 1:00pm-7:00pm. A memorial service will be at the First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Dr., Merced, CA on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 11:00am.
