Geraldine Lee (Gerry) Mudd, beloved wife of Hugh Martin Mudd, of Sun City, California, passed away at the age of 90 on January 12, 2024, after a long illness. She was blessed and received the Last Rites on January 10, 2024; and will be inurned at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California at 2:15pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Miller-Jones Mortuary of Menifee is in charge of arrangements. A reception at the Sun Meadows Community Club House at 27250 Murrieta Rd. in Sun City where she and her husband reside will follow.
She was born on June 13, 1933 to Frank R. and Mildred L. Madonna in Pueblo, Colorado and grew up in Trinidad, Colorado. In 1951, her family moved to Maywood, California where she graduated from Bell High School in Bell, California. She was the eldest of five sisters.
Gerry met Hugh in the summer of 1953 while he was stationed at Camp San Luis Obispo, California where he took his US Army Signal Corps training. After returning home from the service at the end of 1954, he returned to California. They were married on May 14, 1955 and made their home in Stanton, California where they raised five children. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband Hugh, her five (5) children, Cindy Lee Napolitan, Mesquite, TX, Stephen Martin (Lori), Anaheim, CA, Gregory Alan (Kris), Orange, CA, Nancy Lynn Richmond (Thomas), Costa Mesa, CA., and Tammy Sue Pope (Keith), Denison, Texas; eleven (11) grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, Sean, Jesse, Katy, Gregory, Karlee, Jamie, Jeremy, Tori, and Tayler; and six (6) great grandchildren, James, Joelle, Olivia, Colin, Violet, and Wren. Three sisters, Shirley Thomas, Frances Pierce and Sharon Madonna and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Norma Webb.
