Carolyn Van Meter, age 90, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on the evening of July 16th after a courageous and lengthy battle associated with dementia. Carolyn was born and raised in Oklahoma City, surrounded by a loving family, parents Ernest and Pearl Hill and siblings Ernie and Marolyn. Carolyn was influenced to be a loving and caring woman and able to achieve her personal goals.
She met her husband, Billy Van Meter in high school and continued their relationship while attending college at the University of Oklahoma. Surprisingly, they eloped in November of 1950; and started their family with Sharon, followed by Steven, Deborah, and Mark. As a couple and family, they led a beautiful and amazing life, keeping four children active with family sports, associations with fabulous friends, and the experience to travel and enjoy life. Carolyn’s career included 15 years as a Teacher’s Aid for the emotional handicap; while supporting the goals of her family. She was a person that would lift you up, give wise advice, and was received as an excellent and caring friend. She will be missed.
She leaves this world with five exceptional grandsons, Eric, Chas, Steven, Chandler, and Tyler; including daughter-in-law, Kelly. Not excluding nephews and nieces who all hold fond personal memories of the influence she shared in their lives. With great pleasure, we are thankful that she is now in the hands of our loving Lord and look forward to being reunited.
