Arun Kumar Majumdar peacefully passed away in the presence of his family on the evening of February 14, 2023. Arun was born in Baruipur, India to parents Sachchidananda and Jayabati Majumdar. He was the youngest of 4 brothers and 1 sister. He immigrated to the United States in 1981. Arun and his devoted wife Subhra (Muhkerjee) Majumdar celebrated 40 years of marriage this past December.
Arun was a private and humble man. He was an accomplished painter and consummate poet who kept many of his completed art pieces safely packed in storage for most of his life. Despite his immeasurable talent, Arun’s greatest point of pride was his daughter Sudeshna who he and Subhra raised to be patient, kind, and confident in all of her endeavors. Arun was a loving father to his son-in-law, Rocco, and a proud Dadun (grandfather) to his “Rajababu” - Rocco Arun Fragomeni. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins, brothers, sisters and friends in India and throughout California. It brought him great joy to return to India to visit with family and friends whenever it was possible.
Arun loved nature and taking long walks. In his final months, he was in awe of the snow covered mountains surrounding his residence. The morning after he passed, it was fitting that an overnight storm blanketed those mountains with fresh snow for all of us to enjoy. Arun will be remembered for his passion for art in all its forms, his honesty, joyful smile, and for his unconditional love and support of his family. Arun said and did everything with love.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Lewis Bailey Senior Home Care whose care and compassion brought Arun happiness and peace.
Formal services will not be held. In celebration of Arun’s life, please consider making a donation in Arun’s name to: https://alz.org/
