Edith M. Lux passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 3, 1927 in Iron Mountain, MI, to Walter and Fannie Friestrom. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1945 as a member of the National Honor Society.
Edith married Richard Pawlowski in 1949 until his death in 1959. She later married John Lux in 1962 until his death in 1999.
Edith had worked in the Treasury Dept. in Chicago, Wisconsin Telephone Co. in Appleton, and the City of Neenah. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Neenah-Menasha Lady Elks. Edith was an avid Packer, Brewer, and Badger fan. She and her husband, John, went to all the Packer games, including the Ice Bowl. Edith and her family spent many years camping at Lake Antoine Park in Iron Mountain. She also went fishing in Canada for several years. She also liked to travel and has been to every state except Hawaii. Edith and John went to his army reunion every other year in different parts of the country. They also spent a month each year in Galveston, TX. After John’s death, Edith went with her friend Marie to Galveston for nine years. Edith and her friends usually went out for fish every Friday night followed by a night of playing Sheepshead. Edith, Dorothy, Rita, and Marie went to Door County for a week each year for 20 years. At one time she belonged to a bowling league and a golfing league.
Edith is survived by her sons: Larry Pawlowski, AZ, Rick (Gayle) Pawlowski, Mike (Jean) Pawlowski, Brian Lux, Robert Lux, GA; her daughter, Lauri (Gary) Weekley, TX; her grandchildren: Jarrod, Heather, Kenn, Shane, Corey, Andy, Jessie, Nikki, Jamie, Chris, Jonathon, Jordan, Amelia, Michelle, Annie, Ryan, and Stephanie; several great-grandchildren; her sisters: Betty (Mert) Cooney and Helen (Don) Wendt, sister-in-law, Dorothy Lux, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Richard Pawlowski and John Lux; her parents: Walter and Fannie Friestrom; mothers-in-law: Agnes Pawlowski and Ann Lux; her father-in-law, John Lux; brothers: Roy (Evelyn) Friestrom, Jerry (Joan) Friestrom, Robert Friestrom; a sister, Jean (Leo) Weiss; her brothers-in-law: Wayne Wollerman, Charles Lux, and Ed Pawlowski; and a sister-in-law, Marcella Pawlowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere Street, Menasha. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in the Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
