Willie Vee Cates

Willie Vee Cates, 86, of Memphis, died November 25, 2013. She was born in Pontotoc, MS, the daughter of Lester and Ethel McGregor. She was a member of Leawood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Cates was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Thomas Cates and her daughter, Linda Barber. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Weaver (Dewayne) of Houston, MS; grandsons, Colin Weaver of Houston, MS, Devitt Barber and Jason Barber of Vidor, TX; three great-granddaughters and 1 great-great-grandson. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 30, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue, with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens. She loved her family and her church family and was always caring for others. She loved life and is in complete peace. Her family appreciates the love and kindness shown by the staff of Fernbrooke Personal Care and the Gentiva Hospice for helping her on her journey to Heaven.
