Randy was born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 14, 1936 the youngest child of Garvin Chestain & Rachel Tomlinson Massey.
He graduated from Messick High School in 1955 where he has served on the class reunion committee since. He joined the Army after high school and was stationed in Germany. When he came back home he began his career working for the Shelby County Government in the Board of Adjustment. After retiring from the County he worked for Dan Whalen Construction and finished his working life as a cartographer for Stacey Map Company (Handy Maps).
He enjoyed photography, woodworking, watching his grandchildren play soccer, baseball and all their sports. He reconnected with not only his high school class but also the members of the Army whom he served with. They would meet for lunch or dinner numerous times throughout the years. He also enjoyed relaxing times playing cards and games with his friends and family.
Along with his parents Randy was preceded in death by his wife Lois in 2018; and his sisters Becky Whalen, Eleanor Harper, Mary Craddock, and Nancy Heffington.
He is survived by his sister Sue Russom of Southaven, Mississippi; children Rochelle (Steve) Coleman of Nesbit, Mississippi, Randall (Karen) Massey, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren Chance & Cade Coleman, Kate & Morgan Massey; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, October 21 beginning at one o'clock in the afternoon until funeral services begin at two o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery.
