He was born to the late Bill and Ann Irby on August 25th, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Bill was a graduate of Germantown High School. He then graduated in 1985 from Memphis State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Sales. During his time at Memphis State he was a part of the coed cheer team and on the Student Ambassador Board. Bill and his wife Connie got married December 27th, 1986 and were happily married for 36 years.
He started his career with ATS Telephone and Data, and then he joined Young Life Youth Ministries Staff where he spent many years sharing the gospel with high school students. After Bill left Young Life, he worked for several different medical sales companies and finished his career with Coloplast, a company he loved dearly.
Over the years he was an active member at Independent Presbyterian Church, Grace Evangelical, and Hope Church.
Bill enjoyed playing golf, anything involving the Memphis Tigers, going to concerts, and his grandchildren. Bill also spent many years volunteering his time to coach youth basketball. He enjoyed going on an annual golf trip, The Inglorious Masters, with his friends for many years.
He was devoted to his family and friends and never met a stranger. He was humble and full of grace, always helping and serving others. He was a man of faith as demonstrated by the way he lived his life.
Bill is survived by his wife Connie Irby; his children Will Irby lll (Gina) and Gracie Johnson (Kenny); his grandchildren Ellie Johnson, Collins Johnson, and Charlotte Irby; his sisters Debbie Dafferner (Russell), Susan McConnell, and Deanne Wade (Maury, III).
Memorials may be made to Hope Church Memphis, Young Life Memphis, or Neighborhood Christian Center.
Family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, January 22nd at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. A memorial service will be at 11:30am on Monday, January 23rd at Hope Church, 8500 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, TN 38018. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens.
