Wanda Lou Rice Petty, 82 of Memphis passed away peacefully in her home on March 22, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Joel Petty, daughters Daphne Petty Fox and Sharon (Carla) Petty, grandchildren Paul Collins, Jeremy Crocker, Jacob (Virginia) Crocker, Nicholas (Stevie) Collins and Clarissa (Kalen) Higton, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Jessie Rice, son-in-law Fred Fox, granddaughter Layla Kincannon, and great-grandchildren Ethan Kincannon and Ella Kincannon. Wanda was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Delta Gamma sorority. She was an avid reader and historian, as well as being an accomplished genealogist. A memorial service will be held Sunday April 2, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Life Remembrance Center of Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar, with Celebrant Jonathan Matthews of Memphis Funeral Home officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
