W. Alan Mohundro, 62, of Memphis, TN passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Raymond Mohundro. He is survived by his siblings, Danny (Marcia) Mohundro, Lana (Rick) Owens, and Johnny (Pam) Mohundro, nephew Chris Owens, niece Amy (Ara) Sarkissian. He also leaves his longtime caregiver and friend, Roman Stewart and live-in-aide, Terry Brown. Alan graduated from Overton High school in 1970. He then joined the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam until 1972. He was part of the 3rd Battalion, 82nd Artillery. After an automobile accident in 1974, he became an incomplete quadriplegic. Despite his disability, he lived an active life. He truly was an inspiration to all who knew him. Alan was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church as a youth. He not only loved Memphis State basketball but also the Colts, music, and photography. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, November 15th from 2-4pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. The funeral will be on Monday at 10am also at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery, 140 Co. Rd. 87, Dennis, MS 38838, at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
