Von Lynn Verner of Memphis, TN, passed away on February 22, 2019, at the age of 71. He was born on January 2, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico. He attended Harding University and Memphis State University, and served in the U.S. Navy. He loved the Lord and was a faithful door greeter at Bellevue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Afton Verner. He is survived by his mother, Duane Bell Verner; his wife, Julia Rowe Verner; his sons, Shawn (Dana) Verner, and Carey Verner; his siblings, Glen (Jane) Verner, Jerry (Mimi) Verner, Randy (Dawn) Verner, and Marjean Pocock; his stepchildren, Jill (Lon) Cullen, Jodie (DJ) Daugherty, and Rick (Katie) Bailey; and his grandchildren, Hank Verner, Bo Verner, Charlie Verner, Ella Rose Verner, Bailey Daugherty, Whit Daugherty, Drayton Cullen, Kassidi Cullen, and Eli Burchell.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. A funeral service will be held at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, Wednesday, February 27, at 2:00 pm with a reception afterwards. Interment will take place on a later date at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
