Thomas Harley Lewis, age 73, of Cordova, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Tom was born on January 4, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his dad, Alvin Lewis; his mother, Betty McGinnis; his brothers, Tim and Ted Lewis; and his son, Mark Lewis.
Tom graduated from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He later received a Master of Divinity from Trinity Seminary. Tom was ordained into the ministry at Wichita Falls, Texas. He served in churches in Oklahoma, Texas, and Tennessee as Minister of Education and Administration and sometimes Music Director. Tom was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lewis; his daughter, Amy Lewis; his son, Chad Lewis; his daughters-in-law, Ginger Lewis and Cherisa Lewis; his grandchildren, Thomas Lewis, Juliet Lewis, and Evan Lewis; his sister, Carolyn Knightstep; and many loving friends and relatives.
After retiring, Tom enjoyed the challenge of home construction, which culminated in the building of a log home. The great joy in Tom’s life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He also had a deep love for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
A Memorial Service for Tom will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122, followed by a reception from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Gideon’s International Bible Ministry.
