Thomas J. Stovall, 86, of Memphis, Tennessee joined his Lord on May 27, 2020. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Riley Lester Stovall and Beulah Francis Clayton. He married Gloria Stovall on March 11, 1953. Thomas was known as T.J. by his family, friends and coworkers. His grandchildren and great grandchildren called him Papa.
He was survived by his wife, Gloria; children - Debbie Puryear of Colorado Springs, CO., Dee (Tim) Mitchell of Bartlett, TN., Tammy Stovall of Counce, TN. and Tina (Dale) Street of Mandeville, LA .; seven grandchildren - Amanda (Dale) Turner of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeff Hailey of California, Petra (Josh) Ahlstrom, Tim Jr.(Amber) Mitchell, Robert Mitchell of Bartlett, TN., Chris (Lindsey) Daniels of Dallas, TX , Eric Daniels of Mandeville, LA.; 10 great grandchildren, one sister - Doris (Jack) Allen of Heber Springs, AR and one brother Howard Glyn Stovall of Arkansas. Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, two sisters, one step-sister and one great grandchild.
Graduated from Treadwell High School in 1951. Received an Associate’s Degree from State Tech. Supervisor for Bell South for 38 years from 1951 to 1989. He was then a bus driver for Shelby County Schools for five years and then drove for Coach USA.
After retirement, he and Gloria traveled for a couple of years with their air stream trailer. Also enjoyed camping with the Pioneer’s Camping Club. He got to live his dream of living at Pickwick Lake, Tennessee; boating, fishing, gardening and bird watching. He especially enjoyed the hummingbirds, while sitting on his porch. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and then his great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held at Southwoods Cemetery 30 minutes prior to the 2pm graveside on Monday, June 1pm. off of Hacks Cross Rd in Memphis, TN. The service will be live streamed for all those who are unable to attend via https://facebook.com/memphisfuneral/
