Thomas Alton Nix

Thomas Alton Nix, Sr., 93, passed away on June 27, 2020. Thomas loved the outdoors. He spent a lot of his time camping, fishing, hunting and taking trips in his RV. Thomas was also involved in the Sam’s RV Club that helped raise money and food for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House. He was very active in his church and taught Sunday School for many years. Thomas was a great and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to the love of his life Jannie for 65 years. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Alton “Jack” Nix, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jannie Nix; daughters, Deborah Stewart and Pennye Faith (Rick); grandchildren, Gordon Brent, Perry Inman, Mitchell Stewart, Kim Nix, Jennifer O'Sullivan, J.T. and Jessica Faith; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Nell Graves and Sarah V. Hughey. A visitation will be held at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122, from 1-2pm on Wednesday July 8, with a funeral service immediately following at 2pm. There will be a private burial following at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
