Thomas Clark Hammond, Jr., of Germantown, Tennessee, born October 19, 1957 in Princeton, New Jersey, died September 7th, 2015. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Thomas Clifford Hammond (T.C.). He is survived by his wife Carol Hammond of Germantown, parents Thomas and Barbara Hammond of Memphis, brothers Randall Hammond (Kaye) of Denver, Colorado, Cobb Hammond of Memphis, and sister Melanie Mendoza (Roland) of Frisco, Texas, nieces and nephews Grace Skertich (Ryan), Andrew Hammond (Natalie), Hays Hammond, Lauren Hammond, Joseph Mendoza, Katherine Mendoza and Natalie Mendoza, and great-nephews Wade and Whit Skertich. Tom was a life-long learner, poet, animal lover, brilliant storyteller, perpetual wisecracker, and as of late, a mentor to fellow grieving parents. He graduated from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee and received his undergraduate degree from The University of the South at Sewanee in 1982. While at Sewanee, he made the best friendships of his life, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Order of Gownsmen, Red Ribbon Society, the Wellingtons, and Order of the Silver Spoon. Tom received his Master of Arts in English from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. The happiest days of Tom’s life were spent outdoors with his son, T.C. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, Tennessee. 901-725-8088
