Sue Parker Barber, 85, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister was called home to be with our Lord on February 28, 2011 at Methodist North Hospital after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on September 17, 1925 in Sardis, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Ben Barber and her son Charles Patterson Barber and by her parents Raymond and Maggie Parker, two brothers, Raymond Parker Jr, and George William Parker. Sue’s career began at Stanfield Wrights Drug Store where she met Ben; she then worked for South Central Bell and finished her working career at Seven Oaks. She is survived by her two daughters Nancy Michael (Sherman) and Kay Wadlington (Jim), two sisters Dorothy Elizabeth Hood and Peggy Virginia Alexander, one brother Bobby Jo Parker (Audrey), 6 grand children Nick Wadlington, Lauren Wadlington, Stephanie Wadlington, Peggy Pope Sigler, Matthew Pope, two great grandchildren Gabby Sigler and Shawn Sigler as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and the service Wednesday, March 2 at 1 p.m. all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Methodist Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
