Sonja Rhea Gridley Torkell passed away February 25, 2019. She was the daughter of Clyde & Celestine Gridley who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Grayson and Hope Torkell; her sisters, Vicki Perkins, Robyn Nickell, Sharon Gregory and Joan Cloud; and her significant other Wayne Jowers.
Sonja cut hair for friends, family, and clients for almost 40 years. She was a very talented writer and artist in her spare time. She always loved helping others and carried around the most loving and caring spirit. Her husband, her family and her faith meant everything. Sonja was an absolutely amazing women and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2019 at Family Funeral Care Funeral Home, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN. Burial will be private.
