A visitation for SirCrease will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 10:15 AM at Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, 787 Hale Road, Memphis, TN 38109, followed by a funeral service.
SirCrease Duntae Brooks was born on April 7, 1977 to Carolyn and Perry Thomas in Memphis, TN.
SirCrease rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized at Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis, TN.
SirCrease was highly educated, graduating from the University of Memphis in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and from Strayer University with a Masters in Education in 2022. He was also a licensed realtor in both commercial and residential properties since 2003.
As a military child, SirCrease traveled across the country attending multiple schools. He spent the majority of his schooling at West Memphis City Schools in West Memphis, Arkansas. SirCrease attended Hamilton High School in Memphis, TN his senior year and graduated with Honors with the Class of 1995. He met his beautiful wife, Nakayla Brooks, during his senior year. They were together until his departure for 28 years.
SirCrease worked as a chemist since college and changed careers to serve with the Memphis Police Department for almost 8 years. He continued his chemist work after serving and worked with the PMC Group in Memphis, TN at the time of his departure. His chemist work took him to many different locations and various responsibilities. He worked as a lab technician all the way to a lab manager, building labs, working on engines and training newly hired associates.
SirCrease was a longtime member of Cornerstone Lodge #7 of Memphis, TN where he rose in rank and became a Master Mason. He was highly involved in helping new members learn rites and progress through the degrees of freemasonry. He acquired his Worshipful Master and Virtual Past Master degrees. He rose to the rank of being a Companion, Sir Knight, Illustrious, and Noble under Universal Masonic Brotherhood and the Last Degree of Masonry A.F. & A.M.
SirCrease was preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Thomas, his Godmother Velma Smith, his father in law Willie Webb, and his Godbrother Kenta Jones.
SirCrease leaves to mourn his death and cherish his memories: his father, Perry Thomas; his mother in law Sharon Gary; his loving and devoted wife Nakayla Brooks; his son, SirCrease Jr; his three daughters Arielle (Terrence), Avneet, Amienah; his brother, Semaj (Denise); his two sisters, Shieniece and Perri; his grandson, Genesis; his brother in law, Terrin (Tish), and his sister in law TaWanda (Lafayette), and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
SirCrease gained bonus siblings through his years of loving people and extending himself. Though not blood related, SirCrease considered them as close as any of his blood siblings. He leaves behind five brothers: Elton (Ranchelle), Terrence, Kevin, Kelan (Kiersten), and Kerry (Tovia). He also leaves behind three sisters: Kanesia (Broderick), Krystal (Enoch), and Raquel. SirCrease was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and much more. He will be missed and loved always.
