Sidney L. Cole

Sidney L. Cole, 79, of Memphis, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Collierville. He was a retired Deputy Chief with the Memphis Police Department , having served for 31 years. He was also a 1974 graduate of the FBI Academy, a United States Air Force veteran, member of Al Chymia Shrine Temple, Masonic Desoto Lodge # 299, Royal Order of Jesters, Court 130 and the Liberty Bowl Water Boys Association. Mr. Cole, the widower of Wilma M. Cole, leaves a daughter and son in law, Wynona and Cliff Woodruff of Collierville; sister in law, Pat Cole of Cordova; granddaughters, Katie W. (David) Cook and Kasi Woodruff; and a great grandson, Hunter Cook, all of Collierville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Grace Cole; sister, Wynona Gabrielli and a brother, Harris Cole. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 23 at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital.
