Sharon attended Memphis State University and was very active in the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was also very active with Subsidium (Memphis Oral School for the Deaf).
She is survived by her son, Joseph Carruthers, Jr. and several cousins, including Doug McTyier, Kay Gingras, and Sandra Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hiram Carruthers, Sr. and her parents.
Visitation will be Friday, August 11 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:00 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority Foundation, Church Health, or a charity of the donor's choice. She will be greatly missed by many friends and neighbors.
