Ruth I. Williams, 83, of Ellendale, TN, passed away January 19, 2013. The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, and funeral services will follow at 6 p.m., all at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, in the Hunt Cemetery in Blue Ball, AR. Mrs. Williams was a faithful member of Trafalgar Village Baptist Church in Memphis and Egypt Freewill Baptist Church in Blue Ball, AR. A nurturer at heart, Ruth dedicated her life to her family and caring for children in need. She lovingly served as a foster mother to 33 children from the Baptist Children’s Home, while also raising 6 children of her own. She instilled in each the values of Love, Family, and Service to others. Mrs. Williams was also the co-founder of Williams Sign Company in 1972, and together with her husband, James, they built a successful business that still continues to serve Memphis and the Mid-south. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Pat and Mittie Ann Hunt; and her brother, Odis Wayne Hunt. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jim Williams; 6 children, Fred “Butch” Wires (Linda), Mary Freeland (Ernie), Audrey Ewing, Anita Williams, Jimmy Williams (Stephanie), and Paul Williams (Donna); 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Bobby Hunt (Linda) and Jerry Hunt (Linda).
