As I think back on memories of Ricky, my most treasured is his beautiful blue eyes looking up at my sister Faye, smiling at her, and telling her in his little three year old language “FayeFaye, can I have another chookie?” She repeated that to me many times over her lifetime, when we would begin talking about family, memories, and Mama and Big Daddy.

I am so pleased Ricky chose to be called Big Daddy too. He told me on the phone he chose it in deference to the greatest man he had ever known. What greater praise could be given by a grandson? Typical sweet and kind Ricky. I miss him.

I have so many childhood memories of “Ricky Roy” and in the teen years. For whatever reason, he always called me Bennett rather than Cathy. He had the best personality and reading comments that others have posted definitely shows that he stayed true to himself. Always had a heart of gold. I remember when my daughter Ashley  was at St. Jude’s years later, he came and brought me a blow dryer and other things, told me I could come stay with him and to call if I needed anything at all.  There are people that you meet in life that regardless of what happens or how much time passes, you just know that they love you and they truly care for you. Ricky Roy was a true lifetime friend and if you were blessed to know him then that is a gift within except. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family ♥️😘‼️

I lived next-door to Ricky for 17 years. We talked or waved at least a couple of times a week. We laughed together about our “life” situations. As a single mom with a small child,  Ricky was always there in case of emergencies. I could call him and say “Hey Ricky, did you hear those gunshots?”  He’d say, “Hold on, let me get my gun”. Or I’d hear a tornado and he would say, “Let me go look outside.” I felt safer with Ricky next-door! And I watched him have so much fun around his pool.  He always said “come over anytime”.  When he got sick sadly the pool got quiet but I was so happy that Cindy was there tirelessly taking care of him every day. I don’t know what he would’ve done without her. His son was right when he said that Ricky just takes care of the people he loves.   I’m sure he will continue to watch out for her needs and his family’s from heaven because that’s just a style! Miss you Ricky

Engagement Day! 2.20.2016. 
  This day was so special for Ricky & Cindy. They couldn't stop smiling.  Ricky gave her the most beautiful ring, but his bright blue eyes were what Cindy saw shining at her, with so much love, that had her smiling on her birthday. Ricky will always be her knight in shining armour!💕

Thank you so much for being an incredible role-model, mentor, friend and boss to my husband. You impacted his life in the best way. You were exactly what he needed. You will always be cherished in our home, and we pray that your spirit continues to live on and make a difference in all those you left behind.  Your legacy is one for the books!

I worked with Ricky for 20+ years and he was a fun-loving, really great guy. We had some fun times back in the good ole days. He definitely added a light to his time on Earth. Love and hugs to the Otto family and all of Ricky’s friends and family. 


I have so many fond memories of Ricky I couldn't dare to begin to start telling them all. They go all the way back to high school days at South Choctaw Academy through all the years of his life and all the visits he made to Butler after moving to Memphis. I loved Ricky like a brother. He was an awesome person to know.

Ricky was the guy! The first time you met? That you knew was always gonna be your friend? Rest of of yalls days. A good man ascended from this world.Hes not gone! He just ain't here anymore.Hes definitely in a better place today.
