Randell Earl Snipes was born April 17, 1941 to Helen and Reese Snipes. He had 4 siblings, Gene, Helen, Fadra, & Roy. He had two children, Anna and John, a son-in-law, Rickey & 5 grand children, Selah, Moriah, Havilah, Graelan and Gideon and loved his family dearly.
He loved fishing, baseball, football, reading, writing poetry, taking photographs and the color blue. He went to college and eventually got his masters degree in school counseling. He taught high school English for many years before becoming a high school counselor.
Randell went to church growing up and committed his life to Christ as a young man. He loved reading the scriptures and attended Tennessee Temple Christian college.
Upon entering the Army he got stationed in Japan for 2 years during the Vietnam war. He was trained to keep records for soldiers being treated at the Hospital there. Japan made a big influence on his life and held a special place in his heart all his days.
He taught school and counseled in Memphis City Schools and Desoto County Schools.
Upon retiring, he began ballroom dancing. He seemed to love it more than almost anything else he had done before.
Four years ago, after some health issues arose, Randell decided to move to Hot Springs, Arkansas to be closer to his children and grand children. He enjoyed his last years living near his grand children for the first time.
Randell's humble faith was shown in his devotion to studying scripture and prayer. Even in his last days, while being visited by the hospital chaplain, without hesitation, instead of being prayed for, he prayed for the chaplain while lying in his hospital bed. Many times at night, his children would hear him praying by his bedside.
Thank you for joining us today to honor his life.
