Memphis-Peggy James, 89, passed away Wednesday April 17, 2024 following a long stay at the Quince Road Nursing facility. She was born September 8, 1934, in Kerrville, TN to the late Benjamin Harrison James and Jimmie Surratt James.
Peggy was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN and was retired from the Memphis Housing Authority and Memphis Light Gas and Water.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Edwina Pinnell, Carolyn Pullen, and longtime friend Marietta Griffin.
Surviving are her sister, Kathryn Fillman of Houston, TX; her nephew Stan Pullen and wife Gina of Oak Ridge, NC, other nephews and nieces, and faithful friend Pat Vaughn.
The family will gather with friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday April 23, 2024 and funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Interment will be in the Bethuel Cemetery, 8801 Bethuel Road in Millington, TN. Lasting memorials may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church 2000 Appling Drive Cordova, TN 38018.
