Paul R. "Bozie" DeLong

Paul R. "Bozie" DeLong, passed Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the age of 70. He was a graduate of Southside High School and a lifelong Memphian who loved his Tigers and Grizzlies as well as fishing. He started his career in fire protection as a pipefitter for Grinnell in 1968 and was a member of the local 669. In 1983 he co- founded Giles Fire Protection and worked there as a owner and general manager until his retirement in 2012. He was also a member of the Memphis Area Fire Prevention Association. Paul had very fond memories of all the people he worked with over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil Pitt and Gladys DeLong and sister, Anne Sherrick. His survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Barbara DeLong; sons, Paul Neil DeLong, Ryan DeLong (Rikka), Scotty Griffiths (Regina); daughter, Tammy Griffiths; sister, Barbara Tippett; brothers, Donald DeLong (Carolyn), Neil DeLong Jr. (Jean); 5 granddaughters; and 2 great granddaughters. Family will receive guests on Thursday, July 6th at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. from 5 to 8 pm with memorial service being held Friday at 2 pm at the funeral home.
