Paul is survived by his wife Denise Boyd.
He was born May 14th, 1954 in Campbell, MO to Edee and Arch B. Boyd, Jr. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arch B. Boyd, III, wife, Kathryn Smith Boyd. He is survived by sons Patrick, of Austin TX, and Robert (Leah), of Tulsa, OK, and his grandchildren, Archer, Lydia, Sidney, and Joel; and his step-grandchildren, Hayden O’Byrnes, Mason and Lily Kilbert, and Alaina Ware. Paul is also survived by his sister, Marcia Boyd of Memphis.
He graduated from Memphis State University (University of Memphis) where he earned a BA in 1976 and an MBA in 1984. He worked in Human Resources Management in the greater Memphis area for 38 years specializing in compensation and benefits. Paul’s coworkers throughout nearly every stage in his career could identify him as someone that really cared about ensuring they were taken care of and treated fairly by their employer.
Paul began his career working for the City of Memphis in 1976 before moving to the private sector working for Schering Plough and Holiday Corporation. When Holiday Corp. transferred its headquarters to Atlanta in 1991, Paul began Paul Boyd and Associates and worked as a consultant helping many small businesses with their HR needs.
Paul left his consulting business in 1996 to become Director of Human Resources at Check Solutions and continued to work after the company was purchased by Carreker Corporation in 2001 through 2004.
In 2005, Paul returned to the Public Sector working as Administrator of Shelby County Human Resources and later directed HR for the Shelby County District Attorney’s office.
Paul was an avid Memphis Tiger and New York Yankees fan.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
Visitation will be August 7 from 5:30-7:30 PM and funeral services August 8 at 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell, MO on August 8 at 3:30 PM.
