Michael Anthony Fucci, age 96, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. He was born August 2, 1927 in Franklin Township, New Jersey to Michael Fucci and Stephanina Colucci. He accomplished a great deal and lived a very full life. He began his wrestling career in 1945 when he became the champion in his weight class for the state of New Jersey, culminating in wrestling for Oklahoma State University in the NCAA. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1981, first as an armor/cavalry officer and then as an ordnance officer. His last assignment was as the commander at the Memphis Defense Depot. He attained the rank of full colonel. After retiring from the service, his second career was as the first code enforcement officer for the city of Germantown. He was an outstanding leader, a loving father and husband, always led by example, was selfless in life, and fiercely protective of his family. He was also an avid sports fan. He particularly loved the Los Angeles Dodgers, who he followed from when they were in Brooklyn. He leaves behind his son, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit together and celebrate his life on Sunday, June 30 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 1 at 4:00 PM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8185 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38138. Full military honors will be rendered on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM, at Arlington National Cemetery (Section: 78, Grave: 859).
