Michael B. Brooks

Michael Barton Brooks, 62, passed away on August 2, 2017. He was born in Little Rock, AR, raised in Memphis, TN and a long-time resident of Collierville, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jorgette Smith Brooks; his parents, Barton Caldwell Brooks and Josephine Louise Milani; and his infant daughter Nicole Brooks. He is survived by his two sons, Jason Michael Brooks and Matthew Daniel Brooks; daughter-in-law, Rachael Elain Brooks; two grandsons Sullivan Rhys Brooks and Corbin Wesley Brooks; and his sister Dena Brooks Davies.

Michael graduated from Overton High School in 1972 and the University of Memphis in 1976. Later he earned his CPA and attended the University of Memphis Law School earning his J.D. He was certified to practice law in Tennessee in 1984. Michael held numerous positions over the years, including serving as a tax attorney and working at FedEx for over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with his family. He was an active member of Crossway Church in Bartlett, TN serving in numerous ministries as well as on the Board of Directors. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Throughout his life, he continuously served others in selfless generosity, guidance and compassion. His constant smile and wonderful sense of humor made him a friend to everyone he met.

Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Ave, Tuesday, August 8, from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Ave, Wednesday, August 9 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial suggestions are Compassion International, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Crossway Church.
