Mary Ellen Smith was 91 years old when she passed away on May 29, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis,TN. Her husband of 59 years, Raymond Smith preceded her on October 27, 2006 at the age of 83, in Gainesville, TX., where they both retired after operating a Hallmark store Card Shop for 10 years. Prior to that they moved 27 times due to Raymonds job with the W.T. Grant company.
Mary Ellen moved to Town Village Audubon Park in Memphis, TN. in 2014 where she lived until her passing. She won three Halloween contests at Town Village. She was a clown, Charlie Chaplin and her best one as Colonel Sanders. In 2015 she was the Welcome Ambassador at Town Village. She really enjoyed greeting and meeting with the new residents. Mary always looked for the good and did not like the negative, even when she was sick she would always say she was OK or Fine if you asked how she was doing.
She leaves behind her son, Gary Smith (Sharon), daughter, Cheryl Berger (Charlie), four granddaughters, Stacy Cavin (Kevin), Stephanie Kincaid (Zach), Erica Knob (Matt), Amanda Simmons (Stephen) and five great grandchildren.
She is to be buried in Oklahoma City on June 9, 2020 at 2pm.
