Mary Jo Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, went to her heavenly home on May 31, 2023 at the age of 88. Preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Lessie Young; siblings, Bob Young of Pinson, Tennessee, and Jean Stichwah of Jacksonville, Florida. Also, preceding her in death, her husband of 63 years, Glenn Smith. She is survived by three children a daughter, Debbie King, two sons, Jeff Smith(Dede), and Joey Smith(Karen) and 5 granddaughters, Michelle Somma(JR), Devlin Smith, Lauren Pegrim(Chase), Kasey Dixon(Paul), and Kelly Jones(Drew) also four great grandchildren, Swain, Presley, Charlotte, and Maverick and many nieces and nephews.
Jo leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Jo was known for her welcoming home and comfortable hospitality but absolutely famous for her fried chicken and blueberry pies. Her love of children and animals carried through her entire life. In a small house, because of her, generations of children and grandchildren were infused with a love for Jesus and intense love for one another. Whether you called her Mom, Mamaw, or Aunt Jo, there was no doubt that she loved you very much. From humble beginning, rich lives were built.
Visitation for Mrs . Smith will be held at Family Funeral Care Monday June 5th 2023 at 5pm. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday june 6th 2023 also at Family Funeral Care.
