Born on June 18, 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus Marshall Jones, Sr. and Mary Alice Jones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Ernest Kaufman.
Courtney was known for her kind and generous spirit, as well as her quick wit and her laugh. With a heart of gold, she devoted much of her life to volunteering and helping others. She loved spending Saturdays at St. Mary’s serving meals to the homeless. She also volunteered for CASA, Meals on Wheels, and worked tirelessly in dog rescue. As an avid animal lover, Courtney trained service dogs and took them to nursing homes to brighten the residents' days. Her home became a haven for dogs, lovingly referred to as "Camp Courtney" by her dog-sitting clients.
Courtney is survived by her son, Robbie Kaufman, and his wife, Holly; her grandchildren, Nicole Kaufman and Jack Kaufman; her brother, Thad Jones, Jr. (Suzanne); nieces, Tonya "Tonnie" Alexander (Buddy) and Mary Margaret Inman (Jack); and her nephew, Thad Marshall Jones, III.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. A celebration of life service will follow at 10:00 a.m.
