Mrs. Harrison was born in 1921 in Casper, Wyoming because her mother went home to the Dan Speas Ranch to have her first-born child.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Fred E. Brenner, Sr.; mother Myrtle Speas Brenner; husband Forrest M. "Pete" Harrison; and brother, Fred E. Brenner, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Judge Marian F. Harrison, of Nashville, TN; her second daughter Anne B. "Mimi" Wallace, of Nashville, TN; her brother John A. Brenner, Sr. of Parkin, Arkansas; four nieces and a nephew, and ten great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Harrison attended Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was an enthusiastic member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority for many years from which she received her 75 year accolade pin. She was also very active in her church, Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Memphis beginning in 1972. Mrs. Harrison with her husband or by herself, prepared Communion almost every month until 2012. She received a certificate of appreciation from Emmanuel for her efforts.
The family of Mrs. Harrison would like to give a special thank you to Rena Rosenberg of Elder Care Consultants for all of her help. Second, the following individuals of Caring Companions whom have helped take care of Mary: Minnie Chatman, Nita Savage, Shakeda Sutton, Ashley Dortch and Sandra Miller. Also to be included in this group is Veronica Scott with Crossroads Hospice.
The family will receive friends beginning at noon on Wednesday, March 6 until funeral services begin at 1:00 p.m. all at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2404 Kirby Road, Memphis, TN. After the committal service, the family invites everybody to a catered reception in the Billiard Room on the 3rd floor of Brookdale Dogwood Creek located at 8199 Poplar Avenue.
