IUKA, MISSISSIPPI - Martha Jane Turner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 84. Martha was born on February 15, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, and brother.
Martha leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was the devoted wife of William Thomas Turner III for nearly 67 years. Together, they built a life overflowing with love, laughter, and adventure — from Massachusetts to Mississippi. Martha was an adoring mother to her sons, William Thomas IV (Jamie), Michael Reed (Laura), Jeffrey Wayne (Mandy), and her daughter, Rebecca (Paul).
Martha was adored by her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who knew her best as “Nana”. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to let you know it.
Martha will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Whether it’s teaching the kids how to hold their mouths to catch a fish, slow dancing to Elvis on Christmas Eve, or doing rain dances in hopes of a snow day, Nana’s legacy of love, playfulness, and family values will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
A memorial service to celebrate Martha's life will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Friday, April 5th at 2 pm, with a visitation starting at 1.
Please join us in remembering and celebrating the incredibly full life of our favorite Nana.
The family suggests any donations made in Martha's honor be sent to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, LeBonheur Children's Hospital or the charity of your choice.
