Mrs. Sanders, a lifelong Memphian, was born on August 2, 1931 to the late Hal A. & Callan B. Lipsey. She graduated from Southside High School and got her bachelor's degree in education from the Memphis State University. She spent her life as a teacher shaping young minds in Shelby County and Desoto County where she retired. Martha and her husband were longtime members of Park Avenue Church of Christ.
Along with her parents, Martha was also preceded in death by her husband Jack B. Sanders and her brother Hal Albert Lipsey, Jr.
She is survived by her children Holly McKnight (Sam), Marquetta Walker (Duane), and Woody Parks (Marty); her brother William E. Lipsey; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 31 from one o'clock in the afternoon until funeral services begin at two o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. She will be buried in Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery next to her parents.
