Margaret Sue Schmidt, age 89, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 9, 1934, the second child of Robert Emmitt Wood Sr. and Willie Mae Holland Wood. Margaret was a 1953 graduate of Treadwell High School and attended Miller Hawkins Business College. She worked at W.T. Rawleigh where she met her husband Charles Schmidt Sr.
Margaret was a lifelong member of Berclair Baptist Church. She loved telling others about Jesus and taught Sunday School as well as Vacation Bible School for many years.
She is survived by her children Charles (Gail) Schmidt Jr. of Mason, TN, and Donna (Steve) Clark of Cordova, TN; her sister JoeAnn Chadwick; her brother John (Jackie) Wood; and grandchildren Heather Schmidt and Mary Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Schmidt Sr.; her sister Joyce Lasher; her brothers Robert Wood and Donald Wood; and her parents Robert Emmitt Wood and Willie Mae Holland Wood.
A visitation for Margaret will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A graveside service will occur Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park East, 2440 Whitten Rd, Memphis, TN 38133.
