Margaret “Peggy” Ellen Lantrip, 72, lifelong Memphian, died on Saturday, June 21, 2014. A graduate of Sacred Heart High School Class of 1960; Mrs. Lantrip has been a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for 50+ years. Along with her sister Libby Polk, she was one of the founding members and first president of the Memphis Area Chapter of the Lupus Foundation. She was a longtime member of the Memphis Irish Society, member of the Wolf Saddle Club, and along with her husband Henry she coached softball at Gaisman Park for over ten years. The family will receive guest for sharing and refreshments on Tuesday, June 24 from 5PM – 8PM with Rosary Prayer beginning at 7PM all at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 25 beginning at 10AM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 2564 Hale Road, Memphis, TN 38112. Margaret was preceded in death by her father James O Mardis, Sr., sisters Mary “Kay” Adams & Elizabeth “Libby” Polk. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Henry J. Lantrip; 99 year old mother Mary T. Mardis of Memphis; brother James O. Mardis, Jr. of Shelbyville, TN; daughters Patricia M. Malchow (Glenn) of Memphis, Mary Ann Bolden (Duane) of Bartlett, TN, and Margaret L. Walker (L. J.) of Ashland, MS; five grandchildren Patrick Lantrip, Sara Walker, Kayla Bolden, Gavin Bolden & Katie Lynes; one great-granddaughter Anna C. Lantrip; and many nieces and nephews.
