Margaret Jones Mooney, 95, known to many as “Granny” went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 19, 2016. She was born and reared in Memphis, the daughter of Charlie and Bonnie Jones. Margaret spent a number of years living in Panama City, Florida as well as Memphis. She was a member of Blue Ridge Park Baptist Church in Bartlett and was a born again Christian. A serious student of the scripture, she was known for her knowledge of the Bible. In addition, she was also known for her kindness and willingness to help others. Margaret also had a lifelong love of music and as a youth, sang on a local Memphis radio program along with several of her sisters. She was also known for her fine collection of teapots and was a skilled maker of ceramics. Margaret was a loved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed by all who met her, both family and friends. Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Luther Mooney (from Columbiana, AL), two brothers, Charley and Milton Jones and three sisters, LaUna Frazier, Grace McQuarry and Betty Crawford. She is survived by her son Larry, his wife, Brenda; one grandson Ashley, his wife Leah and three great grandchildren, Spencer, Ava and Nolan. Also surviving are two sisters who live in Memphis, Lena Wheeler and Reba Holden; a sister in law, Reggie Jones and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 26 at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. with visitation beginning at 9:30. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.
