Margaret was born on April 28, 1948, one of four children of the late George E. & Elizabeth Stone Lenow. She graduated from Central High School; was a math and science teacher for Memphis City Schools and the Desoto County School System. Later, she went back to school herself and obtained her Masters in Education from Memphis State University in August of 1986. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Education Sorority. Margaret was also a longtime member at Bellevue Baptist Church.
Along with her parents Mrs. McCorkendale was preceded in death by her sister Patcey Lawrence. She is survived by her only daughter and son-in-law Amy & Steve Chambers of Bartlett, Tennessee; grandson Justin Chambers; two brothers Edwin (Marge) Lenow & Raymond (Karen) Lenow; nephews Ray, Mark & Evan Lenow; and many other extended family members and friends.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 16th from five o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening at Memphis Funeral Home located at 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Funeral services, also at the funeral home, will be held on Friday, January 17th beginning at ten o'clock in the morning followed by an escorted procession to Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorials in lieu of flowers in Margaret's honor may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
