Margaret Hancock, born October 14, 1926 in Moorhead, MS., went to be with her one true love, George E. Hancock Sr., in heaven on September 21, 2015. She was the office manager at Perkins Restaurant Corporate Office for 30 years before retiring at 80 years of age. She was a resident of Memphis for 59 years and was an active member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church. Margaret’s favorite pastime was making new friends and being with all of her friends new and life-long. As she transitioned slowly from this life to the next one with Christ, she was surrounded by “angels” in the form of friends and family that held hands and warmed hearts. She is now with her parents; husband; son, George Ewing Hancock, Jr.; and brothers, Arville Dean Hester and Dewitt Hester. She leaves behind her daughter, Jamie Hancock Schneider; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Wood Hancock; grandchildren, Tommy Adcox, Marie Hancock Taylor, Laura Hancock Orman, James Milton “Woody” Hancock, and Jessica Schneider; great grandchildren, Chase Taylor, Anna Taylor, Atticus Orman, Lynnlee Taylor, Annabelle Adcox, Bailey Adcox, Sawyer Orman, Townes Orman and Steven Taylor. The friends and extended family are too numerous to list in any book! Everyone will miss her and her smile greatly but we want to celebrate the wonderful life she had on earth and the new one with Christ. So come join us for a gathering at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 480 S. Highland St. on Thursday, September 24th. Visitation will be held 3 to 4 pm with funeral service to follow at 4 pm. A reception for friends and family will be at the church immediately following the service. The family will attend a private burial at West TN Veterans Cemetery. The family asks that any memorials be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Online condolences can be made at familyfuneralmemphis.com.
