Margaret Ethel Clement Alexander, 82, of Memphis, passed away peacefully August 24th, 2016 at Trezevant Episcopal Home in Memphis. She was born in Memphis the only daughter of Ida Mae and Irvin Clement. Margaret graduated from Hutchison School and attended Colorado College. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Episcopal Church, where she was married to Dr. Albert M. Alexander on April 30, 1955. She was a long-time volunteer at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and served many years as a member of Calvary’s Altar Guild. Her life was devoted to her church, raising her three children, and enjoying her five grandchildren. She always had on a camera-ready smile, and her telephones were her lifeline.
Margaret was predeceased by her devoted husband of 57 years, her parents, and her brother, Duke Bowers Clement, and survived by her children Celeste Alexander Bailey (Rick) of Key Biscayne, FL, Albert M. Alexander, Jr. (Kathie) of Memphis, and Margaret Alexander Cone of Wellington, FL, as well as her grandchildren, Katherine Clement Alexander, Bowers Alexander Cone, Jonathan Alexander Lipworth, Albert McLemore Alexander, and Palmer Hazlehurst Cone.
Margaret’s family is grateful to the staff at Allen Morgan Heath and Rehabilitation Center, and especially thankful for Monica McNeal and her family for the care and kindness shown to Margaret in recent years.
Visitation is set for 1:00 on Sunday, August 28th at Calvary Episcopal Church with a memorial service beginning at 1:30 and a brief reception following.
Family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Calvary Episcopal Church or the Arthritis Foundation.
