Louise Tannehill Bagby

was born in Cleveland, OH on October 22, 1934. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Bagby, daughters Nancy (Gordie) Dunn, Susan (Robert) King, Betty (Mike) Emmons as well as her two brothers, Dr. Robert B. and Joseph K Tannehill. Louise was also adored by her six grandchildren. Louise enjoyed a full life, earning her Bachelors Degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College and her Masters Degree of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis. After college, she was hired as an SRAO (Supplemental Recreation Activities Overseas) with the American Red Cross during the Korean War where she met a handsome Army officer, John Bagby. She devoted her life to raising their three daughters for over 20 years. After that, she returned to the work force as an Office Manager with the Cates Company/Mid-America Apartments for 15 years, seeing it through its IPO. She was a long-time member of the Germantown Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, served as an Elder and Clerk of Session and participated on many committees. Louise also gave back to her community in many ways with her time, treasure and talents. She was a philanthropist, a Board Member of the Germantown Museum and Chairman of the Germantown Historic Commission. An avid tennis player, distance bicyclist and pickleball player, Louise loved laughter, life and adventure. She will be truly missed by her community, many friends and loving family. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at Germantown Presbyterian Church with a visitation from 1-3 p.m. and a memorial service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Germantown Presbyterian Church, the Church Health Center or a charity of the donor’s choice.
