Alma Louise Avant, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 14, 2023, at the age of 90 years old. She was born 1933 in Pine Bluff, AR and lived her early years in Covington TN. She graduated, 1952 Byars-Hall High School in Covington, TN. She also earned her Associates Degree from State Technical Institute at Memphis. Ms. Louise was a long time resident of Memphis, TN and worked at The Mid-South Fairgrounds in the 1960s-1974. She was a Secretary at AT&T and Southern College of Optometry, from where she retired. She enjoyed being an over 50 Year Eastern Star Member and enjoyed Crochet & Needle Work. She was a long time member of Merton Avenue & Leawood Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and helping out with church events. She was a fan of University of Memphis Tigers and attended many games. Ms. Louise was preceded in Death by her Husband, William T. Avant & Son Terry Avant. She was the daughter of Edward & Mazie Stallings & Grandmother Minnie Volz. She leaves behind with sweet memories her siblings: Edward, Nick, Jo Ann & Charlene as well as her four Sons: Wilbur Hensley, Tim Avant, Kelly Avant, Billy Avant and six Grandchildren.
A visitation for Louise will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
