Louis Phillip Gillespie

Louis P. Gillespie, 82, of Memphis, Tennessee, died December 14, 2010 in Bartlett, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 17 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and funeral services will be on Saturday, December 18 beginning at 10:00 am both at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery on Raleigh-Lagrange Road. Mr. Gillespie was a member of the Memphis Bluegrass Association and the Lucy Opry, and was a WWII Army Veteran and retired 1st Sergeant of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife Ava Lee Whitworth Gillespie, four sisters and two brothers. Mr. Gillespie is survived by his daughters Marie Weigandt (David) of Munford, TN, and Virginia Parks (Merrill) of Scott, AR; son Roger “Neal” Gillespie (Paula) of Denham Springs, LA; sister Emma Respess of Lake Cormorant, MS and brother Robert Gillespie of Alabama; grandchildren Scott (Stacy) & Dennis (Brandy) Weigandt, and Jacob & Jared Gillespie; and four great-grandchildren.
