Lois Kay Gustafson

Lois Kay Gustafson,age 81, of Germantown, Tennessee passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021. Lois was born October 24, 1940 in Trenton, NJ and grew up in Hornerstown, NJ. Hers parents were Walter Messler and Alma Johnson Messler. She graduated from Johns Hopkins with a bachelor's degree in Nursing (RN). She met her loving husband, Captain Kurt Allen Gustafson Sr., in Annapolis, MD at The U.S. Naval Academy. They married and traveled until they retired in Memphis, TN. They were happily married for 56 years until she was widowed in 2017.

Lois and Kurt raised two children and enjoyed six grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Lois ensured that her house was always a place where children had the freedom to make the memories that would last a lifetime. From raising her family while moving every few years to family vacations, Lois loved to travel with her family. Together, from coast to coast and country to country they enjoyed many adventures, big and small.

Lois spent her life working and raising her children. She hosted and attended many social gatherings, played bridge, mah jongg, loved to read, and had a love of animals.

Lois was widowed by her husband of 56 years in 2017.

She is survived by her 2 children, Susan Gustafson-Niewiemski, Kurt Allen Gustafson, Jr.; 6 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister.
