She lived there until she was 12 years of age, when her father took a job in Rowland, Mississippi. She graduated from high school there and then moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she attended Draughn’s Business College. She was hired by Southern Bell Telephone Company in the Revenue Accounting Office in Jackson.
In 1938, she married James Farris Link and they raised in Memphis four children, three girls and a boy. Their children are Nell L. Williams of Bartlett, TN; Lillian Mosier of Saratoga, CA; James Link Jr. (Gail) of Hilton Head Island, SC and Eileen Hogue (Ron) of El Dorado Hills, CA. Mr. James Farris Link, Sr. passed away in 1969.
Twelve years later, Lillie married Mr. Chick Parchman, who passed away after four years of marriage. She later married Mr. James Sennel of New Jersey. After moving to Sarasota, FL, Mr. Sennel passed away and she moved back to Memphis where her daughter, Nell Williams was living.
While raising her children, Mrs. Sennel worked for the Ford Motor assembly plant on Riverside Blvd. in Memphis, TN, until they decided to move to Loraine, OH. She decided not to take a transfer to Loraine, OH and took a job offered her at the U.S. Defense Supply Depot on Airways Boulevard in Memphis, TN, where she worked for 17 years before retiring.
While working at the Defense Depot she joined the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Later she became a member of the Toastmistress Club.
Lillie was active members of the J.O.Y. Bible Class and Bellevue Baptist Church since 1950.
Lillie was preceded by her brothers and sisters: Loraine Ophelia Burbank, James Charles Spikes, Mattie Maxine Baxter, Mary Helen Lee, Hilda Louise Spikes, Veda Jean Frisby, Odis Carrol Spikes and Jacquevonne M. Cecca
Lillie has eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Bellevue Baptist Church will hold the visitation from 9:30-11:00 AM and the funeral at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Burial service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery at 1661 S. Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, TN.
